Public Safety Dispatcher

The Nelson County Board of Supervisors is seeking interested and qualified applicants for the following position:

Position:  Full-Time Public Safety Dispatcher
Starting Salary Range:  $38,725 - $48,406 Annually (DOQ) + Excellent Benefit Package     
Closing Date:  Until filled by qualified applicant
Beginning Date:  As soon as possible

Responsibilities include answering and documenting all calls into the Emergency Operations Center including dispatching appropriate emergency personnel. Must have the ability to communicate orally, effectively handle emergency situations, and work well with the public. Education equivalent to high school graduation is required. Knowledge of PC applications, county road systems, and emergency communication center techniques and procedures is preferred. Must be available to work shifts covering 24 hours a day/7days a week/365 days a year. Evenings and weekends required.

Candidates will be required to undergo a background check.  Starting salary commensurate with experience, certifications and skills.
